Making a Dent
There are many ways to play a part in preventing further global warming and climate change. Some join #Fridaysforfuture, some think about ways to refreeze the Arctic, others develop advanced technology to clean up oceans from plastic pollution.
We like all of these ideas and ways of contributing.
We helped them set up a new Global Goals Jam Berlin website and have some more exciting projects in the pipeline.
What is the Global Goals Jam, you’re asking?
Similar to a hackathon, the Global Goals Jam is a two-day design sprint where teams of multidisciplinary participants work together to find solutions to local sustainability challenges.
We didn’t pull those challenges out of a hat. No, they are linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and usually aligned with some more local specific issues.
The SDGs or Global Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address global challenges, such as poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.
What was it all about this year?
They teams had a blast ideating and working on designing creative solutions to problems such as:
- electronic wastes
- services for people and planet
- Water management
